Welcome to the One for All Blog!

You've entered Credit Union 1's One for All forum for community outreach. This site represents a platform for change, a learning environment, and a bridge between your credit union and your life. Together, we can positively influence our friends' and neighbors' lives! We have the resources, we have the people, and we can literally show up on your doorstep. In other words, this is a social experiment in the (cyber) flesh. Let's talk!

Please feel free to comment, cry-out, and be creative here. We'll listen! Afterall, this is all here for you - and with your help, we can take these words off the page and bring them to life in your community.

One for All!

New Branch opening

I think it is great that you are expanding the branches into each of the neighborhoods, but has there been any thought at all to expand out into the valley? We are loyal customers to CU1 and would love not to have to drive 45 minutes into Eagle River or over an hour into Anchorage to do our banking or sign loan papers. It would be nice for CU1 to open up a branch in the Valley. I believe there is enough potential business opportunities and customers willing to bank with CU1 versus the other banks in the area. It would be so nice to do business with a bank in our local area versus driving so far out of our way to do our business banking. We really do enjoy the friendly and professional atmosphere provided at CU1. Thanks

Jen and Dave

Hi Jen and Dave,

I'm happy to hear that you are loyal members of CU1, and thank you for the compliments! We have considered opening a branch in the Valley some day, but after the opening of our new Mountain View branch, we don’t have expansion plans for the immediate future. Remaining within our current branch system helps us maintain affordable services and low rates for our members – but as our membership grows and our financial abilities allow, we will certainly consider your suggestion! In the meantime, we’re glad to hear input like yours to keep in mind for future branch growth. Thanks!

Beans & Jeans

Thank you to the Credit Union 1 staff who worked so hard to make this year's Beans & Jeans Harvest Dance another great success! We appreciate what you do for the community!

Neighbor Helping Neighbor

We in a sense are all neighbors no matter which part of Anchorage we reside in. I would like to witness people taking a long step backwards to the pioneer spirit. There was that time here when people would help a neighbor in need without referring them to seek some government assistance.
I have asked some large churches in Anchorage for help, some never even responded and others told me there are government services available. I was not asking for the money to make some repairs but only if there was a person in the congregation with home improvement experience. Being a Christian I wanted a person of faith to help me solve a problem of being terribly cold each winter. Now years later that has not been solved.
However I am now more concerned with a neighbor near me, while I am not familiar with her finances I am sure she has low income. Her roof is years over do for re-roofing. I fear that she will eventually have serious problems that will cause much damage. Months ago I asked via e-mail the two highest officers in the community patrol to research this. I have never received a response to that mail. I tried our Senators office but was sort of re directed.
Something to think about is that sometimes when you help a person, down the road you might find yourself a beneficiary of that persons estate. That would be a wrong motive to help but it does happen.
Come together Anchorage, help your neighbor no matter where they live. Some people are just broken emotionally and not able to help themselves. That doesn't make them weak or throw away people. Open your hearts!
